Product Overview

This is our dobro/resonator thumb pick in a size large. This is a slightly thicker blade design as compared to our banjo picks to withstand the more strenuous use on a dobro. It is constructed using a custom designed stainless steel band and a 60/1000 of an inch(1.50mm) thick BlueChip pick. These picks are laser etched, professionally machined, and hand beveled to create the best thumb pick available.

Size compares to a standard large thumb pick of any brand.

Best thumb pick for Dobro on the market!

Posted by Randy Mallory on 29th Jan 2020

First off, thank you to BlueChip customer service for quickly shipping me another pick after USPS lost my order. That was above and beyond! I’ve been playing lap steel and Dobro for over 50 years and this is the most comfortable pick I’ve ever had on my thumb. Like other reviewers, thumbpicks tend to cut off circulation because I like them to sit a little further back on my thumb. This one fits perfectly. Now, the important part. The BlueChip pick material really digs into the Dobro strings for extra punch and volume. I’m just amazed by it. I can’t wait to try the JDC model with the shorter shaft.

    Best Thumb Pick Ever

Posted by Tim Wint on 28th Dec 2019

I have been using the same pick for about 5 years now. It is incredible! No visible wear and fits perfectly. 4-5 hour sessions and I never even feel it. I play Dobro and I use the thumb to really dig in when I need some volume. It never has failed me. I'll use it I hope forever.

    Great fit, great product

I got tired of the tight fitting Nationals and Dunlops causing my thumb to go numb. This pic stays in place without the thumb clamp feeling Love it.

    Great Pick

I love this pick.....It is a bit harder to keep on than a plastic but I have been getting better at holding it when double picking on the bass string. I will not go back to plastic.

    Blue Chip Thumb Pick

Posted by Phillip Roettjer on 8th Feb 2019

I am very happy with the Blue Chip thumb pick. I use it for playing my 5 string banjo. I had been using a metal Propik for some years. The Blue Chip pick is more comfortable.

    Comfortable fitting thumb pick

Like others, I also went through plastic thumb picks. Heard great things about the BlueChip picks and tried one. Loved it - comfortable fit, smooth action across the strings, solid sound. Tried both the short and longer versions (JD-L and 1L); seem to like the longer one a bit better. Exceptional quality and sound. Well worth the cost. Paired with the Shelor finger picks, you can't go wrong.

    Always fits, just right

Posted by Larry on 23rd Apr 2018

Great fit, amazing tone and impressive durability. I can get the bright notes and the round mellow full sounds with just a slight change in position on both the banjo and dobro. I have tried many thumb picks. None compare. They are worth it!

    Great action

Posted by Bryan Baum on 18th Oct 2017

Went through a lot of plastic thumb picks and then heard about these Blue Chip picks. Tried one of these and also a JD version. I like both but the 1L seems to have a stronger brighter sound. I like both of them. Can't find a better thumb pick!
