Product Description

This is our dobro/resonator thumb pick in a size medium. This is a slightly thicker blade design as compared to our banjo picks to withstand the more strenuous use on a dobro. It is constructed using a custom designed stainless steel band and a 60/1000 of an inch(1.50mm) thick BlueChip pick. These picks are laser etched, professionally machined, and hand beveled to create the best thumb pick available.

Size compares to a standard medium thumb pick of any brand.

  3. As Great as I Had Imagined 5 Star Review

Posted by on 7th Jan 2021

I've been a Blue Chip fan for a long time owning four different flat picks. (The last one I reshaped myself from a Jazz LG 60.) Since I also play guitar with a thumb pick, I decided to try a Blue Chip. This is for thumbstyle (i.e., Merle Travis) work, not banjo or Dobro. I ordered the BCT-RESO-1M thinking it was designed for the string gage and tension I'm using on my D-28 and my custom Kennedy Archtop. Bingo! It works perfectly and delivers the feel, attack, and tone I was hoping to get. Thank you Mr. Goins and your whole crew. It's darn near perfect.

  4. Great Pick 5 Star Review

I received my BCT-RESO-1M thumb pick shortly after I placed my order. At first the pick felt a little small but a slight tug on the band and it slid right on my thumb. So far it seems to be staying in place. The main aspect I like about this pick is that my thumb no longer is turning blue with the circulation cut off from using a too small pick in order for the pick to keep from turning. The tone you get from this pick is superb and the workmanship is excellent. Great product.

  5. "Swing And A Miss" 3 Star Review

I love my BlueChip flat picks, so I bought their thumb pick. I am having to alter my picking style quite a bit to get this pick to perform like I want. The pick is too long, so it gets hung up quite easily, then the metal part wants to come off of my thumb. The pick needs to be shorter and beveled like the flatpick in my opinion.

  6. THE Professional's Thumbpick 5 Star Review

Posted by on 29th Oct 2019

Aside from the fact that the Blue Chip thumbpick is the best product of its kind in the world, it is also true that the company will do what it takes to assure that the customer gets exactly what he/she wants.
I've had two custom thumbpicks made for me (so far) and I'm so happy that these folks will make any combination of blade/band it takes to match your anatomy and playing style. Even after nearly sixty years of playing the banjo, I was able to improve my tone and my accuracy by figuring out what I needed in a thumbpick and then finding that Blue Chip is there to build it for me. I'm a customer for (whatever remains of my) life.

  7. pricey but worth it 5 Star Review

comfortable and doesn't spin out of position

  8. overpriced , and needs "anchoring" modification 4 Star Review

Posted by on 28th Sep 2018

Snug fit, but needs perhaps a couple of grooves to anchor the pick so that it doesn't fly off during playing. Other than that, it's considerably overpriced. Overall, an excellent thumb pick and, with this sole modification and repricing to, say, $19.95 or so, it would be the overwhelming choice.

  9. Best Customer Service Ever! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Feb 2018

I ordered a 1M reso and a 1M thumb picks. When they arrived I played the reso and fell in love immediately. I only ordered the new picks because the blade broke on my old 1M. I emailed the Goin's to ask if I could return the 1M for a 1M reso and also asked if I could exchange a 1L that was a gift , because I am definitely a medium. The response was amazing, 'Sure we'll exchange both and if you have the broken one, we'll exchange that too.' I sent all three picks back and now have the new ones. The 1M reso is a banjo players dream. Its smooth with very little to no noise . I will never play any other pick. Thanks for a great product and unbelievable customer service.

  10. sizing for thumbpick 5 Star Review

Posted by on 25th Aug 2015

ordered a medium based on my very medium sized hands. Fit is too tight and causes some discomfort. great tone though, the best. Not much to go on the site for sizing. At this price it hurts to make a mistake.
