  1. My favorite pick 5 Star Review

Posted by on 21st Feb 2020

The TD60 with the speed bevel is my favorite of the Blue Chip line. It has a crisp attack but not a lot of pick noise, and produces a full, clear sound, perfect for rhythm or lead in a bluegrass band. I just finished a recording project and the producer repeatedly commented on the great tone I was getting with my Martin D18 Authentic. I feel the TD60 is an important part of that tone and, like all your picks, it is much easier to play fast and clean - the material stays smooth and slippery and doesn't hang up on the strings. Blue Chip is also the most durable pick I've ever had.

  2. Utterly Fantastic 5 Star Review

Hands down I think Bluechip makes the best picks there are. They have the least clack of all the picks that I have used, slide effortlessly across the strings, are virtually slip resistant and sound like heaven on Earth. I started with a TD40 and have landed on the TD60 as my dream incarnate. There are other fine makers out there such as Charmed Life which are high quality with great customer service, though these BlueChips to me are top of the heap.

Very happy with this. Have a lot of different style picks and I really like the material used. Highly recommend this

  4. Winner of my 2019 pick shootout 5 Star Review

Posted by on 21st Oct 2019

I really kind of hate to admit it, but his is the best sounding pick I have found to date. The reason I hate to admit that is that they are pretty spendy. I have had a TD 40 for years that never leaves the house because I don't want to lose a $35 pick. Recently in my seemingly never ending quest for the best pick (for me) I played a 1.5 mm Gravity Gold and really liked the thickness. My go to picks have been Clyton Ultems, but they only go up to 1.2 mm. I tested this TD 60 against the Gravity Gold 1.5 mm, the Clayton Ultem 1.2 mm, the Dunlop Primetone 1.5 mm, and the John Pearse Fast Turtle 1.2 mm pick and the Blue Chip TD 60 was a clear winner. FYI I mostly play pretty heavy handed bluegrass rhythm guitar, a lot of singer-songwriter style stuff, but also use this pick playing electric rock-n-roll.

  5. You owe it to yourself to try one 5 Star Review

Posted by on 18th Sep 2019

I've been firmly in the 'that's too expensive for a pick' camp for years, but I've still always been intrigued. So I ordered a TD60 and TP60 and I'm over the moon with them! They never seem to wear down and I'm pretty tough on my gear sometimes. They sound great and really bring out the character of the individual guitar. No noticable pick noise. I just love the feel of the material in my fingers. It's very tactile and the self lubricating nature of it is very addictive! I'm already planning on ordering a couple more in a different thickness, just to give myself options. Yes they're expensive but in my opinion are so worth it. If you can invest $3000+ in an instrument then surely you owe it the best pick to go with it?

  6. TD 60 5 Star Review

The best picks out on the market. I’m using the TD60. And in the near Future I would like to try BC Jazz 80. I would think that the late Chet Atkins would have loved BC Thumb Picks

  9. BlueChip picks are simply the best 4 Star Review

Posted by on 19th Jun 2019

First, in my experience--and I have tried many, many of the best rated picks out there--BlueChip picks are absolutely unparalleled. I don't need to spend much time reiterating what other reviewers have amply noted. These picks bring out the depth of woody tones of the instrument; they also produce a clean and focused sound--bright but not sharp; they glide smoothly but don't slip; they last virtually forever. So why the rating of 4 stars for this particular pick? I'm a mandolin player, and I have several different kinds of BC picks. I've mostly settled on the TAD-1R 60 as my go-to pick for my modern mandos: five stars doesn't capture how highly I esteem that particular pick. However, I wanted to find a BC that would really do justice to my vintage bowlback mandolins (which use lighter strings and project a different kind of tone). I thought I'd try the TD 60, since it has a slightly narrower tip. It didn't end up producing the sound I was looking for. I ended up settling instead on a Large Jazz pick (which has a much narrower tip)--and that's giving me what I'm looking for. So let me add here another wonderful thing about BlueChip. Their return policy. You can return a pick (non-personalized) within 30 days and get a replacement or a refund. I have twice returned a pick to receive a different pick instead. The service is prompt, no questions asked, really top-notch. I have nothing but praise for this company and its products. I do occasionally use other picks for particular sounds and situations--Wegen, EML, Wolle, Dunlop mostly--but I'm using BlueChips 80% of the time. If premium sound and playability are your goals, these picks are worth every penny.
