The CT55 is a pick custom designed by Chris Thile for his personal use. It is very similar in size and shape to our TAD line of picks. However it is only manufactured in 55/1000 of an inch(1.4mm) thickness and has a custom bevel per his specifications. This is the exact pick that Chris Thile is currently using. See his thoughts on this pick on our users page.
Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

The CT55 Blue Chip pick is the best pick I've ever owned. It provides excellent playability in fast picking, and strumming. Also it gives an amazing tone on any instrument.

I bought my first CT-55 over 4 years ago, and have used it almost every day since. I finally detected minute signs of wear and ordered a back-up recently, but the original still serves me well, especially after re-beveling. Every good thing you hear about this pick is true: miraculously clings to the fingers without feeling sticky, glides effortlessly over the strings, allows an unprecedented degree of control with a minimum of intrusiveness. I have become a Blue Chip evangelist as well as a Blue Chip user.

It's as though the bluechip is stuck to my thumb and that couldn't be better for my growth and development as a mandolinist. My accuracy and tone aren't half as good when I use something other than my CT55.

The Chris Thile Blue chip pick is a cracker. It's easy to hold, doesn't slip, fast as hell and toneful (is there such a word?). I love it and recommend it to all. It isn't going to help you play like Chris but it just may help you play like you're meant to.

So, I decided to give this pick a try and it just ended up being a bit too big and a bit too heavy for me. But, I was able to get the right Blue Chip pick quickly and easily with zero hassle....thanks Blue Chip!

I had previously owned a TAD60-3R, TAD60-1R and TAD50-1R which I loved. I lost the 3R (oh no!) so I thought I would try something different with this one. I had always been skeptical of the amount of point on the CT55 because I usually use the rounded edges of the TAD on mandolin and pointy for guitar. I absolutely love the feel of this pick. It still handles Monroe-type stuff with power, but for whatever reason it feels faster, cleaner and smoother than the others for Thile/Steffey-like playing with tons of fast notes. It makes me want to play more of that style than usual. Love it!

My first Blue Chip pick was the CT55 just because I was used to a 1.4 mm and so far I am pleased. Seems to be a lot louder and shows no sign of wear. I got the right hand bevelled one and hope I don't loose it.

I now have three CT55s. I bought them originally for my mandolins but ended up using them on my acoustic guitars. I love their size, their tone, their wearability. They are superb picks and I do not resent paying the asking price.

I was having pick slip issues and didn't like hearing the sound of the pick hitting the strings. I was talking with a couple of professional mandolin players and they recommended the CT55. I tried a few other brands. At first I thought the price was high, but once I got my hands on this pick, it was WELL WORTH THE MONEY!! This pick is so smooth and quiet! It doesn't slip like other picks when really jamming!! Great stuff!! I'm about to order one more as a backup!!
