Product Description

This version of the TPR was custom created for Doyle Lawson. We worked with him to create pick to his exact needs. This is the exact pick that Doyle Lawson is currently using. This TPR is our classic TP pick with corners that are slightly round in a 45/1000th of an inch(1.12mm) thickness.  Our picks are all precision machined and hand beveled for the highest quality.

Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

  1. CRAAAZZZZZEEEEE 5 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Apr 2018

I have been playing guitar (Folk, Country and Bluegrass) for too many years (based on my apparent limited ability).

My introduction to Blue Chip was during the past several years, and thought the price was out of reach for what I thought the pick could offer.

This was totally wronnnnggggg. If you have an expensive instrument, you will get much better tone and clarity from each note you pick on your instrument.

Love this ... gone are my 10,000 old pics!!

  3. Scratchy 4 Star Review

Posted by on 12th Dec 2016

I've been using TD 45 picks for several years now and have always been very happy with them. Only now - for a change - have I ordered a TPR 45. In comparison I found the TPR to be a bit less comfortable to handle, the tone a bit louder and brighter, apparently due to the more pointy shape. Will probably go back to the TD. Now this is a matter of taste.
I was surprised and a bit annoyed to find the surface of the new TPR marred with several scratches - both clearly visible and audible, and certainly just as much as my other BCs that I've been using for months and even years. Never happened before in any of my BCs; forgive my frankness.
    Kind regards,
    Hendrik

I have tried many picks and a hand full of the bluechips. Really honed in on this pick with the right shape and thickness for tone and attack. Love my TPR 45!

  5. Fine Mandolin Pick 5 Star Review

I've tried many different synthetic picks and none are as nice to use as the Blue Chip. The TPR45 suits me just fine.

I love the mellow sound the pick gives.

  7. Well Worth The Investment 5 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Mar 2015

When I first heard of Blue Chip picks, I thought anyone would be nuts to shell out $35 for a guitar pick. Then I had need for a new pick and knew two pickers who use the TPR45, one for lead bluegrass guitar and the other for mandolin. They're both intelligent people, so I figured, "Why not try it?" Glad I did. Probably the best acoustic guitar pick I've ever used.

  8. TPR45 Tryout 4 Star Review

Posted by on 31st Dec 2014

I had some work done on my mandolin recently and found that the pick I have been using for several years no longer sounds very good. I noticed that Doyle Lawson designed a Blue Chip pick and thought if it was good for him, it may work for me. So far, I like the way it sounds and feels. I also use the CT55, particularly when in a jam when the overall sound level is high. That one really comes through.

  9. Great Choice for Bluegrass 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Dec 2014

I've tried a number of Blue Chip picks, different shapes, different thickness and I've found in the TPR45 the pick that works best for me. Great feel, just the right amount of flex, and I love those slightly rounded corners. No more searching for me, it's the TPR45.

  10. Perfect feel 5 Star Review

Posted by on 21st Dec 2014

The TPR 45 has the perfect combination of thickness, flexibility, and rounded edges I like for playing bluegrass. I have several Blue Chip picks of various shapes and thicknesses ranging from 35 to 60. I've tried enough to have settled on the TPR 45. No more trials for me, I've found my keeper.
