The CT55 is a pick custom designed by Chris Thile for his personal use. It is very similar in size and shape to our TAD line of picks. However it is only manufactured in 55/1000 of an inch(1.4mm) thickness and has a custom bevel per his specifications. This is the exact pick that Chris Thile is currently using. See his thoughts on this pick on our users page.
Quarters, Nickels and Dimes, if included in the pictures, are for size reference only. They are not etched on the picks or included with the sale. To use this reference, please place a coin on your current non-Bluechip pick and then compare to the pictures of our picks with coins on top of them. This will help you choose the pick that is closest to your current favorite size and shape.

As a mandolin player, I am very picky (pardon the pun) about my tone, and the CT55 has a great tone—crisp, but still deep and rich. I tried a TAD50 before, which was very good, but I feel that the extra thickness of the CT55 is a better match for me. I feel like I have a bit more accuracy with this BlueChip, and techniques like tremolo seem a lot easier with it too.
Overall, the CT55 is well worth the money! I am hoping to try a TAD60-1R one day soon too!

I discovered the Bluechip CT55 several years ago and it has made me a much better guitar player. The size of the pick allows me to pick hard or kind of 'flutter' pick softly. It allows for more intonation. I love the smooth, clean sound it gives.

This is a very nice pick for my acoustic guitar playing. Gives me a solid hold and nice sound out of the strings. I really like the smoothed edges, no pick noise on the strings.

Clarity of Tone, easy to hold on to, rolls off strings!

I have been using these picks for at least 5 years. I absolutely will not use any other pick but the Bluechip pick. You get a very warm response from this pick. It is also very easy to hold on to. It will not slip in your hand when you are playing.

This pick made my playing a lot cleaner and smother sounding. I did sacrifice a little volume. Previously I was playing with a Wiggins pick. I definitely prefer this CT55 pick.

My wife who plays mandolin and I play guitar out in a duo most weekends. We both have been using the Blue Chip Pick for years. I love these pics. I find they help you get great tone and are much easier to hold on to than conventional picks. I only use Blue Chip picks. They are absolutely great.

I enjoy using the BlueChip TAD picks because I find them easy to maintain my grip while playing the mandolin and guitar.

Much greener to mail it that way, and faster.
Also, very similar to the Primetone smooth pick. Sounds better than the Primetone on some mandolins, and on others indistinguishable.
